Chrome extension
A free Chrome extension that saves the places Google Maps shows you to a list in your browser. Its file has the same columns as an export, so code that reads one reads the other.
Install it
Install it from the Chrome Web Store. It's free. You don't need an account or a key.
How the list fills
Search on Google Maps as you always do. Each place in the results goes into the list as it shows up, and more go in as you scroll. A place you open is saved too. A line at the bottom right of the map counts the places this tab added.
To stop adding places, switch the extension to Off. What's already in the list stays there.
It works on Google Maps in any language, on 14 Google domains, from google.com to google.co.jp.
Nothing goes into the list?
It's usually one of these:
- Is the extension Off? Open it and switch it to On at the top. While it's off, nothing new goes in.
- Was Google Maps already open when you installed the extension? That tab can't add places until you reload it.
- Is Chrome keeping the extension off Google Maps? The extension says so at the top, with an Allow on Google Maps button. Or open
chrome://extensions, open the extension's details, and turn on automatic access under Site access. Then reload the Maps tab. - Does the line at the bottom right of the map say gmaps.dev was updated or restarted? The extension stopped working in that tab. Reload the tab, and places go in again.
The file
Download CSV and Download JSON write the export's columns, in the same order and with the same rules: the same json keys, UTF-8 with the mark Excel needs, lists in one cell, and a ' in front of a cell that starts like a formula. If you filter the list, both files hold only the places that match. The csv's column names are in Chrome's language, English or Portuguese. The file is named for the day you download it, like places-2026-09-24.csv.
emailsis always empty. Maps never shows email addresses, and the extension doesn't look for them.scrapedAtis when the extension saved the place.- Maps sometimes sends a page of results without review counts. Open the place and
reviewCountfills in.
It's not part of your account
The list is kept in Chrome, on your computer, and the extension sends nothing to us. Its places don't show up in your collections, they don't cost credits, and we can't see them. The extension's privacy policy has the details.
When you need more
The extension saves only what Maps showed you, and it never clicks or scrolls for you. To get every place in an area, start a collection: it searches the area square by square, tells you what it will cost first, and can look for emails on paid plans.
