Chrome extension privacy policy

The gmaps.dev extension for Chrome saves the places Google Maps shows you to a list in your browser. This says what it reads, where the list is kept, and what reaches us: nothing.

Last updated September 25, 2026

gmaps.dev is run by OpenWings Automação Comercial Ltda., CNPJ 63.852.648/0001-06, Rua Padre João Wislinski, 441, Santa Cândida, Curitiba – PR, CEP 82630-494 ("gmaps.dev", "we").

Our data protection contact (encarregado under the LGPD, data protection officer under the GDPR) is Gustavo Salomé Silva, at privacy@gmaps.dev.

1. What the extension reads

It runs only on Google Maps pages. There, it reads the answers Maps has already loaded to show you a search, a place you open, or the first page of results. From each place in them it keeps the name, categories, address, phone numbers, website, rating, number of reviews, whether it is open, its coordinates and Google's IDs for it, plus the time it was saved. It keeps nothing about you, and it reads nothing on any other site.

2. Where the list is kept

In Chrome's storage for extensions, on this computer, along with the On/Off switch. It doesn't sync to your other devices. The extension has no account and sends nothing, to us or to anyone else: all of its code is in the package you install, and it makes no requests of its own.

3. What reaches us

Nothing from the extension. We don't see your list or your searches. The Chrome Web Store shows us only totals, such as how many people use the extension, never who they are.

When you install it, the extension opens a welcome page on our website, once. That page and the links in the extension are ordinary visits to our website, covered by the gmaps.dev privacy policy.

4. What Chrome asks you to allow

Three things. storage keeps the list. unlimitedStorage lets the list grow past the 10 MB Chrome gives an extension by default; it still stays on this computer, and nothing leaves your browser. Access to Google Maps pages on 14 Google domains lets the extension read the places. Chrome describes that last one as reading and changing your data on those sites. The one change the extension makes there is a small line on the map that counts the places added.

5. Deleting the list

Click Clear list in the extension to delete it. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes the list and the switch with it. We can't delete the list for you, because we never get a copy.

6. The people in a list

A business listing can name a person, like a sole trader whose business carries their name, or show a personal phone number. The list keeps what Maps showed. What you do with it is up to you and the law where you use it, and a public phone number is not permission to contact someone.

If your details are in someone's list, we can't reach it: it exists only on their computer. To remove your details from gmaps.dev's own results, use the removal form.

7. Changes

If a new version reads or keeps anything more, we change this page before that version reaches the store, and the date at the top changes with it.
