Acceptable use policy
gmaps.dev helps you find businesses. This says what you can do with what you find, and what you can't.
Last updated September 23, 2026
This policy is part of the terms of service. This version is 2026-09-23. Email addresses need a paid plan and your acceptance of this version, recorded on your account. On a paid plan, until you accept, a collection that asks for emails is refused with 403 AUP_REQUIRED. You accept it in the console, under Account.
What you may do
- Find businesses to sell to, buy from, partner with, study or map, and export them for your own use.
- Contact a business through its public channels when you have a lawful basis for it, following the rules of the channel you use.
- Build products on the API, and show the results to your users with the date we collected them.
- Keep what you exported, as long as you honor removal requests.
What you may not do
- Send outreach the law forbids: marketing that needs consent you don't have, calls to numbers that opted out of sales calls, or bulk messages that break the channel's rules.
- Treat a public contact as permission. A phone number or an email address on a listing is not consent to marketing, and paying gmaps.dev doesn't give you that consent either.
- Harass, stalk, threaten, discriminate against or expose anyone, including the person behind a business.
- Profile people on sensitive traits, or target children.
- Contact anyone who asked to be removed, or work around a removal, an account restriction, a rate limit or a quota.
- Share or sell your access, or use someone else's keys.
- Send false information or try to corrupt the results every customer shares.
- Anything unlawful where you are, or where the business is.
What we do on our side
- We collect only what a Google Maps listing shows anyone, never behind a login, and never review text, reviewers' names or photos.
- We look for email addresses only on the business's own website, and only when a paying customer who accepted this policy asks.
- Anyone can ask us to remove a place, a phone number, an email address or a website with the removal form. Once we accept, it leaves every search and export at once, and we don't collect it again.
- We suspend accounts that break this policy, and we cooperate with lawful requests from authorities and from the people affected.
Reporting misuse
To report misuse, or to have something about you removed, write to privacy@gmaps.dev or use the removal form. We answer within 15 days. If we suspend your account and you think we got it wrong, write to hello@gmaps.dev and a person will review the decision.
